My new wheels

OK, finally getting settled in on the road. Time to unload some updates.
Picked up the bike at Best Buy on Sunday. Thankfully, the weather sucked less than Saturday night. In fact, Sunday was gorgeous. Perfect day for a motorcycle from Best Buy (wtf?). Here’s how it went down:

David Athay & Chris Hertz working the Cap'n

Hey, that's me

Before plasma gets t-boned at 65mph

How to spend 9 grand & still get kicked out of Best Buy

Ummm … that is one sweet motorcycle jacket.
why do I get the feeling you should be wearing that helmet 24 hours a day.
vroom vroom!!!
Hey… day one and you’ve at least made it from Cascade Station to Woodburn, according to your map. That’s about 40 miles. Time to recharge.
Whoa! Since when did Best Buy get into the motorcycle biz. Hmmmmm. Well, hopefully you get the 24 hour life battery… That would suck if you had to recharge and you’re in the middle of BFE. Jus know that I’m prayin for your safe arrival back to Hotlanta! Take lotz of pics…
Are you smacking your own ass out of excitement?
I like it.
Hi! You have a well-engineered bike and not much sense! One mountain pass could take you a week in my estimation… Good luck, though–somebody’s gotta do this so others can stay home, warm and dry and read about it.
Cheers, JeffKay (“Deep Cycle” Electric motorcycle guy)
Get a good flexable solar panel to put on your back that will get u going when u don’t have a place to plug in too!!! good luck & have fun!!!
Welcome to the EV world! Keep your head low and try to create the least amount of wind resistance possible. Does the bike have a neutral? If so, practice the “pulse and glide” method for some extra miles. Otherwise, accelerate slowly and once you can, cut back a slight twist on the throttle to just barely maintain your speed. How high is your PSI in your tires? Are you carrying anything unnecessary with you? Lighten your load as much as possible. I assume you have internet access to be leaving updates. If you haven’t already, do some research on getting more miles per gallon (or watt). You can most likely get more than 50 miles on each charge if you are careful, and if you just flat out gun it, you will probably get far fewer miles out of your batteries. Good luck, and if you make it to Philadelphia, you can charge at my house.

Nathan, when I heard about your travel plans, my immediate response was wtf, s t u p i d (say it in a singsong voice) Like in that movie with French Stewart “Love Stinks” when he calls his girlfriends cat “G a r a c i e”. Anyway, once I got used to the idea, I still thought you had entered into the stage of your mid-life crisis called “need some excitement for my dull existence” (don’t we all). So, I am with you on this. I think it is great!! (Most of it anyway) Be SAFE!!!!! Don’t ride at night…don’t take candy from strangers… do I sound like Marjorie yet? Just Kidding Marjorie. Takes lots of pics! See you at Christmas???? hopefully. Love ya, jen
Happy Thanksgiving Nathan! One certainly to be remembered. Love you, Mom
